● People who want to analyze diseases at the microscopic and molecular levels and consider and deepen their understanding of the pathology of diseases. (Being able to visualize diseases at the microscopic and molecular levels will open up a whole new world to you!)

● Those who want to use their graduate school research in their own specialized medical field. (Since research will always be done with an awareness of clinical relevance, the knowledge and experience gained will be of great use in their own medical practice.)

● People who want to become "clinicians with a strong knowledge of pathology" (People who are knowledgeable about pathological diagnosis in the field of medicine have an advantage in themselves. In order to enrich each department, you can also aim to become "clinicians with a strong knowledge of pathology" for the sake of patients.)

● People who are excited about meeting a wide variety of different technologies, research, and people. (Pathology is said to be a field that connects basic medicine and clinical medicine, but it goes beyond medicine and is broadened and deepened through collaboration with researchers and practitioners in a variety of fields, including engineering, optics, and science. We welcome people who are excited about meeting and collaborating with such a diverse range of people.

Let's dig deeper into various disease conditions together!

◆Up to obtaining a degree

In graduate school, apart from required lectures, the research topic you choose and how you spend your four years will vary depending on your previous career and field.
If your research topic has already been decided, you can start your research immediately. On the other hand, if you have no experience in pathology or pathological diagnosis, we may recommend that you simultaneously undergo training in the pathology department for a certain period of time to gain basic knowledge of pathological images before proceeding to set your research topic.
In addition, if you are entering as a working graduate student, you will begin your research activities only after thoroughly discussing in advance how you will balance your work and research activities.
Even after starting graduate school, you will continue to address various issues, from research content to research life, through almost weekly research progress checks with your supervisor, regular departmental research meetings, and twice-yearly individual interviews.

Students will begin to learn about pathological morphological changes and how to interpret findings through actual pathological diagnosis. Setting themes (research themes) and conducting pilot research trials.

Year 1

Setting the theme and starting full-scale research

Year 2

Mid-term review: Confirmation of research direction, adjustments as necessary

The most profitable period for research

Year 3

Writing and submitting papers in parallel with research activities

Degree Examination

Year 4
